Does it require a browser extension?

No. ProctorSafe runs as a browser-native SDK embedded in your assessment page. Candidates do not install apps or browser extensions.

Can it detect AI-assisted cheating?

Yes. ProctorSafe looks at how each answer reached the page: pasted in from an AI assistant outside the exam, inserted without being typed, typed faster than any person can, or clicked by software rather than a hand. It also detects screen sharing, remote desktop tools, virtual cameras and tab switching — all without uploading candidate video. Because detection is based on behaviour rather than a list of AI products, new models leave the same traces as the old ones.

Where is data stored?

Session metadata and integrity events are stored in EU-hosted infrastructure. Raw candidate video stays on the device during the exam. Your organization controls retention through tenant settings.
